Slow down for cats.

A small, friendly sign for streets where cats spend a lot of time near the road and are in immediate danger. It asks drivers to take a little more care.

A place for drivers to own up

If someone hits an animal, the code on the sign lets them say so, anonymously or honestly. Owners find out what happened instead of waiting and wondering.

Cats Protection

Reduced burden on other charities

Fewer cats hurt on the road means rescues, shelters and vets have more to give everywhere else.

It helps everybody

As a side effect, there'll be fewer animals killed and less roadkill, meaning there's less of a burden on other charities: fewer dead bodies in the road and less damage to vehicles. It helps everybody, including drivers.

See the sign before the cat's eyes.

Each sign is about the size of a (fat) cat, and it lights up when headlights hit it. Instead of catching a cat's eyes in the dark and hitting it, drivers see the sign.

No one likes QR codes, but cats do.

We're not trying to punish drivers. We're trying to stop it happening in the first place. We can avoid hit and runs in two ways:

  1. By stopping the hit.
  2. By stopping the run.

The sign increases visibility, and the sign makes it possible to inform the owner.

A request, not a rule.

We are pro-driver and pro-cat. We want both to live harmoniously. We love driving. We love cats. Both can co-exist in peace. These discreet signs are our solution.

No new speed limits. No new laws. Signs placed only where they're really needed reduce the stress of the owner, the workload on the council, and on the driver.

It's the simplest, cheapest and best option to save lives.

The design of the sign

The sign is specifically designed not to look like any other road sign. It doesn't use blue, it doesn't use red, it doesn't include numbers, and it doesn't include any demands. It simply asks for care and attention.

No blue, no redNone of the colours of official road signs. No pretence at legal authority.
No numbersNo speed limit, nothing to obey. The driver retains autonomy.

Just a catFriendly and instantly understood.
No demands"Please drive carefully" is a request, not an order.
Seen at nightReflective surface with high visibility, making it easy to see at night, visually appealing, very simple to understand.

A UK-wide initiative.

The plan:

  • Increase donations to cat charities
  • Reduce the burden on rescue charities
  • Reduce trauma for owners
  • Allow drivers to clear their conscience without consequence
  • Save the lives of cats

We are a not-for-profit.

All money goes to manufacturing the signs and reinvesting into charities.

A simple idea with a profound effect

It's a simple idea: put up a sign to save the lives of cats. In order for it to work, it has to do several things:

  • Not infringe on the Highway Code
  • Be visible and immediately clear, even to a driver at speed
  • Be accepted by councils
  • Be polite and respectful, not demanding
  • Be memorable
  • Only be used where cats genuinely are at risk to minimise any impact on traffic flow

We designed the sign to achieve precisely this.

The more signs are put up, the more lives are saved.
